Letter from Trey
A Message from LFEA President Trey Burvant
I want to start out by thanking the Executive Board of the Louisiana Film and Entertainment Association for having the confidence and trust in electing me as your new President. After serving on the Executive Committee of LFEA and as Chair of the Legislative Task Force this past session, I am ready to continue the good work we accomplished.
Also, a very special thanks is due Robert Vosbein, our immediate past president, for his steadfastness these past two years. Under Robert’s leadership, we fulfilled the mission of the LFEA this legislative session: to protect your jobs and create a stable environment for film production in the state.
He and I, along with our Executive Director, David Tatman and the Executive Board Members worked tirelessly and in concert with Legislators, Louisiana Economic Development, Motion Picture Association of America, Screen Actors Guild and youto produce positive legislation. (Remember, we won unanimously in both the House and Senate).
Together we achieved many great feats. We changed the conversation to the proof positive economic impact that films have on communities. We effectively demonstrated to the public and legislators that a production, no matter what size, touches not just actors and crew, but small businesses too. We worked to make a smarter, more streamlined and predictable film program that sets a course for long-term success and sustainability.
As you know there are many new elements that allow us to maintain a competitive program while encouraging more investment in our state, spurring the indigenous filmmaker community and expanding educational opportunities statewide. I look forward to meeting with industry stakeholders across this state as we implement the new aspects of the law and spread the word to the film world that Louisiana’s strong crew and talent base is ready to work!
Next month, your Executive Board will be meeting for a strategic planning retreat. We will revisit and renew our core mission to fight for your jobs and also to explore what new and better ways we can serve our membership and our industry for the coming years.
I thank you for your past, present and future support and look forward to serving as your president.
